DIY: Christmas Gift Bags

Here's a super easy DIY idea to turn a gift into a masterpiece. You can fill it up with your gift, choccies, sweets, anything of your choice really.

Here's what I used, but feel free to adjust to fit you. At the most basic, all you need is a sheet of paper :)

Materials
Note: You can buy almost all of these products in a special bundle - click here to see.

Tools

Step 1: Fold your chosen sheet of 12x12 paper 5 and a quarter inches in from each side

Step 2: Turn paper and fold in either side at 3 inches in (opposite direction to previous folds)

Step 3: We now have to make the bottom corners of the bag. Open up the paper again and using the point where the two folds meet (between the 5 1/4" folds & the 3" folds) make two diagonal folds in both of the 3 inch side sections for both of the first folds we made.

Step 4: Using your index fingers to press in on either side of the corners you made in Step 3, lift both the top and bottom of your paper to bring together at the top, bringing the bag shape to life.

Step 5: Fill the bag with your gift. Punch 2 holes in the top (2 inches from either side) and secure bag with a ribbon of your choice.

Well done! You've made a super cute bag! Now you can leave it at that or you can follow the next steps to add a stamp like I did.

Step 6: Add a stamp!

Using the Art Philosophy Cartridge, make a rectangle shape like the one in the picture below from the white cardstock. You will have to use the shape from page 25 of the Art Philosophy collection at 2 1/2 setting on your Cricut machine.

Then stamp the "Merry and Bright" stamp on the white rectangle you just made with the Cricut using the Ruby Ink Pad.

Make another of the rectangle shapes but this time with the Ruby cardstock and at a slightly larger setting of 2 3/4.

Stick the white stamped rectangle to the Ruby rectangle to create a framing effect. Optionally, use the CTMH foam tape to stick to create a 3D effect. You can also add some bitty sparkles to the corner of your stamp like I did for extra bedazzle.

Glue your framed stamp to the front of your gift bag and you are all done!

Let me know what you think!
And be sure to send me a piccy of yours if you try it :)
